Snowy villages, wintry mountains, twinkling lights, and time-honoured Christmas traditions have long made Switzerland a truly magical place to celebrate the season. For a truly picturesque winter wonderland, imagine sipping mulled wine or hot chocolate overlooking snow-capped alpine peaks and Lake Geneva, all from the splendour of a terrace at the Beau-Rivage Palace in Lausanne.
This luxury five star hotel typifies the Belle Epoque and Grand European Hotel glamour of a by-gone era, from the chandeliers in the magnificent ballroom to the opulent rooms. The hotel embraces all the needs of the 21st century to incorporate renovated rooms, the luxury Cinq Monde Spa, buzzing cocktail bars, sushi and renowned gourmet dining. All without losing any of the refined elegance so long associated with the Beau-Rivage Palace.
At Christmas, the Hotel celebrates the season with an array of Christmas festivities, so both children and adults experience a Christmas to remember. From the world famous Lausanne Béjart Ballet to the Hotel Ice Rink, spending Christmas at the Beau-Rivage Palace is uniquely memorable and magical, whatever age you are.
Children’s activities:
The Hotel is extraordinarily child-friendly, and at Christmas, children take pride of place with programmes of events designed to make their Christmas extra-special. Children can whizz around the ice rink, or create a traditional Christmas log with the chefs to enjoy with their family. Budding artists can create their own flower arrangements with the florist, and Father Christmas will, of course, be visiting on the 25th.
Other activities:
As the children ice-skate on the terrace of the lobby lounge, parents and guests can take advantage of a leisurely soak in the spa pool with views of the snowy mountains beyond and a spa treatment in Cinq Mondes Spa. Revived by a Turkish Bath or Massage, if you want to get into the Christmas spirit and do any last minute shopping, then Lausanne offers one of the most delightful Christmas markets in the country. Overlooking the Alps, and spread along the shores of Lake Geneva, The Marché de Noël with its fairy lights, Christmas Trees, carols and children’s rides, will have you feeling Christmassy the minute you arrive.
There is also the famous Béjart Ballet to take in during the run up to Christmas and some decadently modern menus at the hotel’s restaurants ranging from the Michelin starred Anne-Sophie Pic at The Beau-Rivage Palace’s Café Beau-Rivage (brasserie style) or L’Accademia (Italian) restaurants to enjoy on 24th, 25th, 31st December 2013 and 1st January 2014*. A cocktail making lesson can also be arranged for the festive season.
The Christmas Menu is decidedly gastronomic, with choices for the big day itself ranging from Black Cod ‘A La Plancha’ with Bourbon Vanilla and Old Rum, to whole Besse Capon, (poached then roasted) with Asparagus, Roasted Chestnut Mousse and Capon Jus. Follow this with a traditional Bûche de Noël.
