Celebrate in Venice

Celebrate Venice

A recipe book to celebrate life with food, joy and a pinch of magic.

Italian food has long had a place in the heart of foodies and non-foodies alike. So ‘Celebrate in Venice,’ featuring conversation, recipes and photographs centered around traditional Venetian food, is a delectable contribution to the lifestyle and cookery bookshelves.

Authors Csaba dalla Zorza and Francesca Bortolotto Possati couldn’t be better placed to have written this journey through Venetian cuisine. As CEO of The BAUERs hotel collection, Francesca is at the helm of this Venice hotel group, who play an unrivalled role in interpreting the Venetian art of hospitality. Francesca accompanies the authoress in a wine and food tour set in the Lagoon that reveals the extraordinary nature of the city’s day-to-day life. From the fish market to the fruit market in the heart of Rialto, the head of the Bauer Group also opens the doors of her own home to readers, sharing the secrets of the Venetian lifestyle.

Csaba della Zorza and Francesca Bortolotto Possato themselves go over the memories of their infancy, inviting their readers to use food to celebrate both the small and great occasions of life by preparing simple but striking dishes while paying attention to the slightest detail.

The seven chapters are each devoted to an occasion, an ordinary family party or drinks with friends, a romantic breakfast for two, perhaps a dinner to remember a special date, or a tea with girlfriends chatting.

79 illustrated recipes with sophisticated ingredients and unusual matches, are easy to prepare and within anyone’s capacity, so that every special occasion can be celebrated with a menu that is just as special. Traditional Venetian dishes are blended with recipes based on Indian and Middle Eastern cultures, in a city where the spices from the east used to fill the main port with colour, pervading the streets with unknown scents.

As we turn the leaves flipping through the attractive images – all the work of the watchful Stefano Scatà, the photographer – we go through the most fascinating areas of the city, see the most beautiful and most magical views, but also the splendid interiors of the Bauer hotels near St Mark’s and on the Giudecca, in addition to Francesca Bortolotto Possati’s private house. Different scenes, from the typical trattoria to the most romantic palace, not only offer recipes, but different milieus to interpret every occasion, making each one special, unique.
